The last time we heard from Ne-Yo was on Valentines Day when he released his 3-song EP 3 Simple Rules. Ever since then, the R&B crooner has flown quietly under the radar and been busy working on his 6th studio album titled Non Fiction.
On Friday, the artwork for his first single, “Money Can’t Buy”, was released, and it will feature Def Jam labelmate Jeezy, and be dropping this Tuesday, May 27th. In recent interviews, Ne-Yo has spoken on the album and claimed that he would be returning to a more traditional R&B sound, similar to his first two albums.
“It’ll be out probably towards the summertime, predominately R&B this time,” he previously told Billboard. “I had a little stint with the dance music and all of that, which I had a good time with– and I love the audience, I love them for accepting me doing it –but I had to go home on this one. Had to take it back to my roots, and not to say that there won’t be one, maybe two songs on there that the dance crowd can get into, but the majority, the girth of the album, will be R&B.”
Non Fiction serves as the follow-up to 2012′s R.E.D., and will feature collaborations from T.I. and Trey Songz. It is expected to drop later this year, rumors are saying September 30th.
