TI Gets A ‘Welcome Home Bash’, Announces He Will Put Atlanta Back On The Map

TI had a productive day yesterday as he spent his first few days of freedom with a radio interview at V-103 Radio Station, followed by an appearance in Augusta, Georgia to support the OMG Girls on The Scream Tour.  The night finished off with a visit to Essos where TI, Tiny, Young Dro, B.O.B, Maino, Jennifer Williams, Nene Leakes, Nelly, Angela Yee, Amar’e Stoudemire and more partied the night away in celebration of TI’s return home from prison.
During his interview with Ryan Cameron, TI discussed his decision to go back to the ‘old T.I’, his new docu-series and how he plans to put Atlanta rappers back on the map.
Going back to the old T.I

To be frank, when I went through all the things I went through, the new sophisticated ‘Paper Trail,’ the upper echelon T.I all those people were the quickest to give me their back pockets to kiss. The ones that really stayed down with me were them Bankhead natives, the ones who supported them first two albums. I feel like I’m going to stay down with who stayed down with me. I’m going to speak to the people who spoke to me. I’m going to communicate with the people who supported me during my darkest hour. Also, being a fan of music myself, I understand the core and foundation of my success derives from that. At one time I was so focused and caught up in being a role model, being what everybody else expecting me to be that I got away from what I do best and that’s Bankhead. That’s what I meant by that. Energy wise, subject matter wise, sonically…

Do you think your flow changed when you went through that upper echelon?

It did. You know my surroundings changed my environment and the things that I saw on a day to day. A lot of those things changed but even when I change, even when I diversify, even when I expand and evolve, I still maintained the ability to go back. I know how to do it. If you tell me “Make me something that sound like this,” I know I got that formula. I know exactly how to do it. It’s like making sweet Kool-Aid. Easy.

When your son Major saw your face when you came home reenact that for me. How did it feel?

I’m a big family guy and I got a big family and so I’m a huge, huge part of it. I missed them as well as they missed me too, so it was a big moment. See, that brings me to my next announcement. We have a documentary television show. I’m going to stay way from the term reality show because there is some what of a stigma to it. Anything you associate my name with is going to be eloquent, classy and ghetto at the same time but we got a show and we captured some of those moments. So you’ll be able to see for yourself.
