Could it be that the online video channel VEVO is looking to do bigger and better things. VEVO which is independently operated but owned by Sony and Universal Music Entertainment and the Abu Dhabi Media Company has seen tremendous growth since they started up in 2009.
Rumor has it that all parties involved are currently in talks with cable companies to enter the world of TV Channels.
According to sources from the New York Times, VEVO is allegedly looking to become what MTV used to be, before it became a Reality TV dumping ground. They plan on showing all things music related including videos, chart countdowns and other live shows.
The concept is ideal however with the ability to stream video on demand online, would there really be a need for such a channel? VEVO logs about 827 million video plays a month. How could a channel possibly compete with that.
Guess we will have to wait and see. They will definitely find a way to creatively appease the masses.
